  • The County College of Morris Foundation received a $1M grant from Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation to fund new dental programs at its Center for Health Professions, currently under construction in Randolph Township. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • New freshwater fishing regulations will take effect Feb. 17, expanding trout opportunities by eliminating the lake closure and revising wild brown trout limits in the Pequannock River while adding 23 stocked ponds for families.  WRNJ Radio
  • Since the Jan. 25 snowstorm, several North Jersey towns have reminded pet owners to pick up dog waste from public areas (including parks) to prevent health risks. The law requires immediate cleanup with fines ranging from $50 to $2,000 for violations.  Daily Record
  • As Valentine's Day nears, FirstEnergy urges residents to secure helium-filled foil balloons after 24 outages occurred in the JCP&L service area last year — with metallic balloons causing 96 outages companywide. Customers are advised to secure and safely dispose of balloons to prevent future power issues.  WRNJ Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The NJ Board of Public Utilities certified the state’s 25th electricity auction, setting new supply rates for residential service starting June 1. JCP&L customers will see a 1.6% increase to an average of $137.47 while bill credits will help offset rising costs.  WRNJ Radio
