- ➤ Morris County Fire Marshal James C. Davidson retired Wednesday after 32 years of service, starting as a fire instructor before leading fire prevention and emergency efforts. County officials thanked him for a legacy that guided operations through the COVID-19 pandemic. WRNJ Radio
- ➤ Morris County will close Gaston Road for through traffic beginning March 2 as it replaces Gaston Bridge across a one-mile stretch from Sussex Turnpike to Washington Valley Road — drivers will use a detour via Washington Valley Road, Schoolhouse Lane and Mount Pleasant Road until the three-month project is complete. - ➤ New Jersey firefighters continue to use turnout gear with PFAS chemicals that raise long-term health concerns, and federal lawmakers have yet to pass the PFAS Alternatives Act (which would invest $25 million annually for safer gear testing) to protect first responders. Daily Record
