  • NorthJersey.com highlighted adoptable pets Clifford and Opal from Simba's Sanctuary in Ramsey on March 6. Clifford, a 6-year-old dog with a cleft lip who thrived with proper care, and Opal, a cat who has adjusted well after an injury, are available for adoption; interested parties can call (201-661-8141) to schedule a meet and greet.  Daily Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A weak U.S. jobs report on Friday, Mar. 6 showed the national workforce lost 92,000 jobs—New Jersey’s job market slowed as gas prices rose nearly 10% amid rising oil prices from the Iran conflict.  Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • County College of Morris held a ribbon-cutting today in Randolph Township to open its new Center for Entrepreneurship and Culinary Science, built with local businesses and the Chamber. The center will offer new business and culinary programs for students and entrepreneurs (including the Tom and Donna Pepe Pavilion).  WRNJ Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Schuyler Place in Morristown will be closed to vehicles on Tuesday, March 10 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews excavate and install utility connections for the Morris County Courthouse project (local businesses remain open and alternate routes are advised).  WRNJ Radio
  • State highway crews are repairing potholes this spring while motorists check for damage using the NJ Treasury's claim process; drivers can report hazards by calling 1-800-POTHOLE & visiting the NJDOT website.  Daily Record
  • New Jersey will observe its first Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day on March 9 to honor retired FBI agent Robert Levinson + who vanished in 2007 on a CIA-related mission in Iran + as his family calls for accountability amid renewed hope for answers. Lawmakers sponsored the measure following their advocacy efforts.  WRNJ Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • Trader Joe’s recalled Asian-themed frozen foods because they may contain glass; Ajinomoto Foods distributed 37 million pounds of products made between Oct. 21 and Feb. 26, and no injuries were reported. Consumers are urged to return or discard the affected items.  Daily Record
  • The NJ Health Department reported that a child died last week from the flu, making it the third pediatric death this year as influenza B now dominates and over 150 New Jerseyans have died since the fall, mostly seniors.  Daily Record
