  • Jamie Ding, a Lawrenceville resident and NJ Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency employee, won his 11th consecutive Jeopardy! game on Friday, Mar. 27, earning $19,010 to bring his total to $291,820. He now ties for 18th place on the regular-season wins list and will join the Tournament of Champions.  Daily Record

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A state report found that active bald eagle nests declined about 5% in 2025 with 251 egg-producing nests, down from 264 in 2024 — likely due to avian flu. Officials ask residents to report any disturbances within 1,000 feet of nests.  WRNJ Radio
  • A bald eagle rescued from the Hudson River in February remains in rehabilitation at a Morris County wildlife center as it undergoes a second round of chelation therapy to reduce high copper levels (a treatment designed to flush out toxins).  WRNJ Radio

FINANCE NEWS

  • A LendingTree report found that home insurance rates are rising nearly twice as fast as inflation. In New Jersey, rates increased 32.1% from 2020 to 2025 (a gap of 6.1 percentage points over inflation), ranking the state 39th nationally.  Daily Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Morris County officials honored Detective Capt. Denise Thornton at the Administration and Records Building during a walkout ceremony, marking her retirement after more than 25 years in law enforcement & community service.   • Amy Herbold, a former Christie administration official, will lead Choose New Jersey as president and CEO starting next month (she is now senior VP at Triple Five Group). The nonprofit aims to attract investment and create jobs statewide.  Daily Record

  • NorthJersey.com featured adoptable pets Luke and Lula from PAWS Montclair on Friday, March 27. Luke overcame mobility challenges while Lula, a young responsive dog, warmed hearts and both are seeking a loving home; those interested in adoption should contact PAWS Montclair.  Daily Record

  • Morris County officials report a strong increase in housing redevelopment in 2025 with 26 multi-family proposals building over 2,000 housing units.   • Legendary Morris County coach Herb Lindsley (89) died on March 24 in Stroudsburg, and visitation is set for March 30 at Doyle Funeral Home in Morristown with a funeral on March 31 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
