- ➤ A Chester farm used Frost Busters and anti-frost candles to raise temperatures and protect apple, pear, cherry, and plum trees from frost after temperatures dropped to the low 20s last night. Alstede Farms also used fans and covers for strawberry fields and will benefit from spring events on its property. News 12 New Jersey
- ➤ The Morris County Chamber of Commerce will honor four nonprofits and leaders at its annual Nonprofit Conference and Excellence Awards on April 15 at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Keynote speaker Sarah Ahart (of the Mimi Washington Starrett Foundation) will address the crowd. - ➤ A survey by Clever in August 2024 ranked New Jersey as the second rudest state, noting residents seem impatient amid high stress, and a YouGov poll from Jan. 28, 2021 found 34% of locals viewed their neighbors as ruder than most Americans. Daily Record
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Trout fishing season will begin tomorrow at 8 a.m. in New Jersey with more stocked waters, extra fish, and updated regulations. Anglers will enjoy 19 extra fishing days, increased rainbow trout stocking, and the return of brown trout after more than a decade. WRNJ Radio

- ➤ State officials announced that 11 rail freight projects in Morris, Sussex, Hunterdon and Somerset counties are receiving over $26.3M from the Fiscal Year 2026 Rail Freight Assistance Program to improve freight safety & efficiency. Local grants will fund track and bridge upgrades to ease highway traffic. WRNJ Radio
- ➤ Dirty-Jerzy Supplies LLC in Butler was added to the state labor list on April 2 for owing $98,143.73 and is now barred from public contracts until its debt is cleared, making it one of eight companies added in April for labor law violations. WRNJ Radio

- ➤ North Jersey hospitals are expanding to meet rising patient demand; St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center is launching a 15 million ER upgrade and Morristown Medical Center plans a 1 billion patient building, while projects in Clifton, North Bergen, Paterson, and Livingston will further improve care (approval details pending).
