- ➤ New York Waterway launched a new shuttle service that picked up riders from NJ Transit stations in Morris Township, Madison & Chatham and dropped them off at ferry terminals in Jersey City to help commuters reach Manhattan. The service offered a combined round-trip ticket costing about $30 and operated Monday through Friday. News 12 New Jersey
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On May 1, Morris County celebrated Law Day at the county courthouse where the West Morris Mendham High School mock trial team—recognized for 20 consecutive wins and for placing second of 216 teams at the statewide competition—was honored by county commissioners. Local judges stressed the day’s theme—The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One—and the team will represent New Jersey at the National High School Mock Trial Championship from May 7th to 10th in Phoenix while a new exhibit honoring Hispanic/Latino legal pioneers remained on view until Aug. 15. - ➤ New Jersey departments of Labor and Workforce Development and Health warned summer camp operators and employers to follow the law that gives young workers rights to fair pay, proper meal breaks and earned sick time. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The American Lung Association will turn New Jersey turquoise from May 5-11 to raise lung cancer awareness and honor those impacted—landmarks such as TRIAD1828 Centre in Camden and Bell Works Water Tower in Holmdel will be illuminated. The group also will host the LUNG FORCE Walk on September 20 to boost participation in early detection and research efforts. WRNJ Radio
