  • Morristown's Mayo Performing Arts Center is set to begin its $65 million expansion with a new arts education center and upgraded theater facilities, announced during a groundbreaking on May 6. EDUCATION NEWS

  • New Jersey officials said public schools improved in 2024-25, with four-year graduation rates rising to 93.2% and chronic absenteeism falling to 14% at a state board meeting on May 6. Full performance details for grades 3 to 9 will be released in June.  Daily Record

  • Weather experts predict New Jersey will face a slightly below-normal hurricane season with a 16% chance of a named storm and a 5% chance of a hurricane. Residents are advised to prepare ahead for the season — which runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.  Daily Record

  • Essex County officials say World Cup venues and fan festivals are no-drone zones as the FAA will enforce flight restrictions during events (violators risk fines up to $100,000 and jail).
