  • Residents will receive a yellow plastic bag from their mail carrier on Saturday to fill with non-perishable food items for local food pantries — part of the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Food Bank executive Duncan Lawson said hunger in the area has increased and the drive has already collected 1,000 pounds of donations.  News 12 New Jersey

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nineteen Roxbury High School choir students were selected to the New Jersey All State Honors Choir with senior Jasper Fernandes earning first in the state+ the chosen singers will perform in concerts planned for November and February.  WRNJ Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Assembly bill 5433 is under review following a busy public hearing where restaurant owners warned that ending the tip credit could raise labor costs—while supporters say it will stop wage theft and give service workers a fair wage. The proposed law would phase in a full minimum wage of $15.49 for tipped jobs, a change that local restaurants say may force them to raise prices.  Daily Record

  • The Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week poll is open until 5 p.m. Thursday — coaches have nominated local athletes based on standout performances in recent games and tournaments.
