CRIME NEWS

  • A charter bus driver was charged with DWI and reckless driving after returning students and chaperones to White Rock Elementary School in Jefferson Township on May 15th at 6:34 p.m., and police said further charges may be added as the investigation continues.  WRNJ Radio
  • Two Warren County residents were arrested in Mount Olive Township after a May 15 traffic stop near Village Green Shopping Center revealed drugs, drug paraphernalia and a brass knuckle knife—one suspect faces charges including controlled substance offenses and weapon possession while the other was released pending a court appearance.  WRNJ Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • County College of Morris is offering GED prep courses this fall for residents who have not earned a high school diploma. Classes begin on September 8 and run through November 3 at CCM in Randolph Township—each course costs $100 and provides one on one tutoring and student support services.  WRNJ Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NJ Transit train service stopped Friday, May 16 when engineers walked off over a five-year contract dispute, leaving Morristown commuters with long delays and crowded buses. Officials say negotiations will resume Sunday, May 18—hoping to reach a deal that eases travel problems.  Daily Record
  • Senator Doug Steinhardt warned that Chinese solar inverters were found with spy tech that puts our state’s critical systems at risk and urged Governor Murphy and state leaders to act fast to ban foreign access. He has backed bills to stop companies from nations that may threaten our infrastructure — a move he says is key to keeping our community safe.  WRNJ Radio
  • The NJ Department of Labor reminded young workers and families that minors must have working papers before starting new jobs, urging them to use the online Young Workers Hub before World Day Against Child Labor on June 12. Employers must register online and share an eight-digit code—minors need an employment offer and caregiver verification to begin work.  WRNJ Radio
  • I-80 repairs in Wharton Borough are progressing, with two eastbound lanes set to reopen on May 21 and two westbound lanes scheduled to reopen by the end of May. All lanes will be fully open by June 25—crews working 24 hours to make up for recent weather delays.  WRNJ Radio
