- ➤ Officer Laura Starns, 22, crashed her car while not on duty a couple weeks ago on Morris Street—she now faces DUI charges and a toxicology test was done but its results remain pending. News 12 New Jersey
- ➤ A former student was arrested after he was seen with a handgun on Morristown High School grounds when School Resource Officer Christopher Little recognized him based on a tip from May 8 and detained him, and a search revealed a Smith and Wesson handgun with a loaded magazine but no chambered round. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Two eastbound lanes on I-80 in Wharton reopened at 10 p.m. Wednesday after a monthslong closure due to sinkholes, and DOT officials removed the Route 34 detour once paving was finished Tuesday. Westbound lanes that closed in March will reopen next week with all lanes set to be open on June 25—DOT officials advise drivers to slow down in work zones. News 12 New Jersey

- ➤ Hanover Park and Randolph have hired first-time head football coaches as Nick Liberato and Ryan Gresik take charge of their teams, with Liberato planning to bring his father as offensive coordinator and Gresik set to install a run-oriented spread offense aimed at a sectional title. Veteran coaches Dave Albano and Greg Gruzdis were chosen by Morris Catholic and Whippany Park to lead their programs—promising a fresh start in local football traditions. Daily Record
- ➤ North Stars Gymnastics Academy in Boonton earned national medals on bars, beam, floor, and vault at championships held in Sandy, Utah + Battle Creek, Michigan. - ➤ Yesterday, Morris Hills made history at the Morris County Track and Field Championships at Boonton High School by winning all four major events in the boys competition for the first time since 1977—helping the team sweep both the boys’ and girls’ titles. Notable performances included Shreya Sathiyan breaking a 14-year-old pole vault record and Adam Petitjean setting a meet record in the 1,600 while student-athletes now prepare for the Group championships on May 30 and 31.
