- ➤ On Friday, the Morris County Vocational School District opened its Career Training Center at County College of Morris in Randolph as over 100 people gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The two-story, 46,350-square-foot building will serve about 150 high school students in share-time programs spanning fields such as medical assisting, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and supply chain management — a $26.8 million project funded through a state bond act and county support. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A report from the Division of Fish and Wildlife shows that black bear sightings and incidents have dropped in New Jersey so far in 2025, with 257 reports from Jan 1 to May 21 compared to 358 last year. Sussex County had the highest number of incidents—103—followed by Warren and Morris counties, and police urge residents to stay cautious. Daily Record
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Two westbound lanes on Interstate 80 in Wharton Borough reopened Friday, May 30 after sinkhole repairs, and crews installed guiderails—drivers now use the shoulder and right lane with speeds reduced to 45 mph. Crews will finish median repairs and reopen all lanes by June 25 as they work around the clock for safe travel. WRNJ Radio
- ➤ Assemblywoman Aura Dunn was named Legislator of the Year by The Arc of Morris on Wednesday for her work to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities plus she sponsored laws to include communication needs on driver’s licenses and proposed measures to address the special education teacher shortage.
