CRIME NEWS

  • A person was hospitalized with a gunshot wound in Jefferson Township when police contacted the prosecutor’s office at 9:06 p.m. on June 3 — authorities said there is no threat to the public and the investigation remains active.  WRNJ Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A new law signed by Gov. Phil Murphy took effect on June 1 and now requires employers with at least 10 employees to put salary, benefits, and pay details in job ads posted in print, online, email, and social media. Public and private employers—including those based outside New Jersey but hiring locally—must follow the new rules, and workers can file complaints with the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  WRNJ Radio
  • Boaters on Lake Hopatcong must follow new safety rules as the summer season begins. Sheriff Gannon and Sgt. Buro said officers will enforce slow speed and wake surfing distance limits — along with waterskiing and hull elevation guidelines — to keep everyone safe on the lake.  WRNJ Radio
  • On June 24, 2024, Katie died after staff at a group home mixed up her medicines — the error led to a dangerous overdose. Assemblywoman Aura Dunn has proposed a bill to require nurses and certified medication aides in group homes — the rule will help keep disabled residents safe.  Daily Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nancy Ellen Jobes, a Parsippany native who fell into a permanent coma after a car crash in 1980, became the center of a landmark right—to—die case in a Morristown courtroom. Her family sought to remove her feeding tube in 1985, and the New Jersey Supreme Court later upheld the decision that set new guidelines for end-of-life care.  Daily Record
  • Dr. Eleni Pellazgu from County College of Morris was named a 2025 Health Care Hero by NJBIZ for her leadership in nursing education—she will be honored at a ceremony at The Palace at Somerset Park on Tuesday, June 24.  WRNJ Radio

SPORTS NEWS

  • Madison junior Rohan Tucker raced in the 200 meter event at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions on June 4 in Pensauken—setting a Morris County record with a time of 21.18 seconds that marked his school record and personal best. He finished 10th in the 100 meter event with a PR of 10.69 and said overcoming anxiety from previous meets was key to his performance.  Daily Record
