CRIME NEWS

  • A Hopatcong man fled police on Tuesday night and crashed on Route 46 in Morris County—injuring three people including a police officer—and was charged with eluding, aggravated assault and assault by auto, with his case now pending at Morris County Correctional Facility.  WRNJ Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • Morristown is hosting a week of events to mark the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour, with reenactments, concerts, parades, and lectures planned through July 14—honoring the general’s role in the fight for American independence. The celebration is organized by American Friends of Lafayette and local heritage groups, making it the only New Jersey stop on this national commemoration.  WRNJ Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On July 7, New Jersey's state ombudsman released a 79-page report detailing neglect and dangerous conditions in group homes for people with disabilities, noting unsecured medication, crumbling stairs, and malnutrition. The report recommends independent investigations, mandatory reviews and civil penalties — measures that candidates Jack Ciattarelli and Mikie Sherrill must support to improve care.  Daily Record
