- ➤ A motorcyclist was injured on Thursday evening when his Harley-Davidson lost control and struck a guide rail on the Exit 26 ramp of I-80 East in Mount Olive Township—he was taken to a hospital for treatment. WRNJ Radio

- ➤ Dover Councilman Sergio Rodriguez was indicted for fourth-degree criminal coercion after confrontations last year in Dover—charges he says are politically motivated—and he will fight the case in court on July 21 despite losing his re-election bid. Daily Record
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The New Jersey Department of Labor added eight companies — including Clover 427 Security Group of Mountain Lakes and Building Materials Manufacturing of Parsippany — to its public Workplace Accountability list for unpaid wages and penalties totaling more than $540,000, barring them from government contracts until their debts are cleared. - ➤ A new report from the NJ Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency showed that over 7,400 low- and moderate-income residents in New Jersey became homeowners in the past two years through programs offering down payment and first-generation homebuyer assistance—nearly half of the buyers were the first in their families to own a home. - ➤ Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said New Jersey and its subdivisions could receive up to $19.8 million from a $720 million settlement with eight drugmakers accused of fueling the opioid crisis—funds that will be distributed over varying timeframes as local governments begin signing on—. The agreement also bars the companies from marketing opioids or selling pills with more than 40 milligrams of oxycodone—steps aimed at reducing opioid misuse—and marks a new move to hold drugmakers accountable. - ➤ The NJ Department of Environmental Protection said homeowners should remove standing water around their property—this action lowers mosquito breeding sites that may spread diseases such as West Nile, eastern equine encephalitis, and Jamestown Canyon virus.
