- ➤ A Morris County choir returned from a 12-day trip to Ecuador where the group performed traditional U.S. songs of faith and revived Ecuadorian hymns for a multigenerational audience. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students in grades three to nine will take a new computerized adaptive test in English language and math from April to May while eleventh graders will complete an adaptive graduation proficiency exam in March next spring, and science tests in fifth, eighth, and eleventh grades will remain unchanged. Field testing of the adaptive system will occur this fall—Cambium Assessment is set to implement the new assessments as the state updates its testing approach. Daily Record

- ➤ The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities approved a Residential Universal Bill Credit that will give nearly 3.9 million ratepayers a total of $100 off their electric bills. Customers will receive $50 in September plus $50 in October to help lower rising energy costs from the PJM capacity market. WRNJ Radio
- ➤ The IRS plans to end a 70-year ban on political endorsements by churches—if a Texas judge approves the change, pastors could openly support candidates during services, though many New Jersey clergy remain cautious about endorsing anyone. Local leaders note that even with the new rule, their churches will not automatically back a candidate, and surveys show most Americans oppose political endorsements from religious groups. - ➤ The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office received its fourth reaccreditation from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police during a Wednesday night board meeting — the certificate confirms that the office met 112 professional standards and holds until June 2028.
