  • Members of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office joined community partners at the Community College of Morris on Aug. 15 to distribute school supplies to local children. CRIME NEWS

  • Hanover Township police charged several individuals, including juveniles, for graffiti vandalism that caused about $500,000 in damage across buildings, bridges and public spaces — the charges let victims seek restitution.  WRNJ Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Reps. Gottheimer from NJ 5, Bacon from NE 2 and Kean from NJ 7 introduced three bipartisan bills to fight Lyme disease—boosting research funding, enhancing tick tracking and setting up a national response system for vector-borne illnesses. The legislation follows reports of over 2,000 tick-borne cases in New Jersey this year.  WRNJ Radio
  • Legal experts explain that unlike unordered merchandise, a misdelivered package may be considered theft under common law—residents should check labels, notify the carrier, and mark the package as 'Return to Sender' to avoid legal issues.   • State health and environmental officials are investigating a case of malaria in a Morris County resident who did not travel internationally, which may be the first locally acquired infection in New Jersey since 1991—officials say the risk to the public remains low.
