CRIME NEWS

  • Morris County man Maloy Amador, 43, was charged with attempted murder after a shootout with federal agents during a DEA operation on Aug. 13 in Parsippany—he also faces drug and firearms offenses.  Daily Record

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Today, the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission reported that the sports comedy film Happy Gilmore 2 spent $152.5 million in 64 days of filming across the state—setting a record under the film tax credit program. Adam Sandler's production company filmed in 31 municipalities to help create local jobs and boost the economy.  WRNJ Radio

  • Dover Police Chief Jonathan Delaney sued Mayor James Dodd on Aug. 19 in Morris County Superior Court—claiming defamation and harassment for not endorsing the mayor in past races and for upholding legal standards—and his lawsuit seeks emotional distress damages and other relief to stop what he calls political interference.  Daily Record

  • Anastasia Kolomeithuk and her mother Tetiana Zaitseva left war-torn Kyiv for New Jersey, where Tetiana received deep brain stimulation surgery—relieving her Parkinson's symptoms and helping her perform daily tasks.
