A 20 year old man from Independence Township was arrested after he repeatedly stole Lego sets from a Target in Washington Township over recent months, with thefts totaling $514.95 — he was charged with third degree theft and shoplifting and later released on a complaint-summons pending his mandatory court appearance in Morris County Superior Court.
🌲 Environment
2024 was the second hottest year recorded in New Jersey, as a new Rutgers report confirmed a steady warming trend since 1900.
The report warns that rising temperatures – with a projected increase of 3.7 to 6.2 degrees by 2100 – will bring heavier rain storms, longer droughts and more flooding across the state.
🏛️ Government
Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. held a roundtable on Friday at Alstede Farms with farmers, state agricultural leaders, and local officials to discuss challenges and measures in the Farm Bill, including reducing regulations and boosting support for local agriculture—efforts aimed at strengthening the regional farm safety net.
Gov. Phil Murphy signed two bills on Friday to expand solar energy access and boost energy storage in New Jersey — measures that will let 450,000 residents benefit from community solar and spur 2,000 megawatts of storage by 2030.
The laws aim to lower energy costs and strengthen the power grid for households.
