ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash in Morris County near the intersection of Route 206 and Fox Chase Road left one driver dead and a passenger seriously injured—Chester Police provided images of the wreck.  News 12 New Jersey

CULTURE NEWS

  • Over 15 fall events will take place across North Jersey this season—Morristown Festival on the Green will occur on Sept. 28 while Grand Harvest Wine Festival will happen on Oct. 4 and 5—offering residents farm visits, cider making, craft fairs, and live music.  Daily Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, North Jersey school districts kick off the 2025-26 school year with plans for computerized testing for grades 3-9 between April and May while 11th graders will take adaptive tests in March. Schools in Montclair, Sussex and Ramsey are enforcing cell phone bans, Clifton’s Maple Valley Middle School will open this fall for rising fifth graders, new superintendents have been named in Hackensack and Prospect Park, and a funding freeze has been reversed to restore $158 million in vital K-12 spending—marking major changes in state education.  Daily Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New Jersey voters will pick a governor on Nov. 4; they must register by Oct. 14 (mail ballots start shipping on Sept. 20) and can vote early from Oct. 25 to Nov. 2 (vote-by-mail applications are due by Oct. 28 in person or by mail by Nov. 3).  Daily Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross is asking local donors to give blood or platelets now to keep up a healthy supply, especially for those with O positive and B negative blood. Donors giving blood between Aug. 29 and Sept. 21 will get a Peanuts-themed mystery bag with exclusive T-shirt designs—supplies are limited.  WRNJ Radio
  • A Sussex County resident tested positive for WestNile virus today when the virus was found during blood donation—making it one of the first cases reported in New Jersey this year; officials also reported more than 700 mosquito pools in all counties have shown the virus and urged residents to remove standing water from their yards.  Daily Record
