EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students and families will attend the free Morris County Regional College Fair at County College of Morris in Randolph on Sept. 14 from noon to 3 p.m. The event features more than 125 colleges and universities and will highlight academic programs and career pathways—parking is available in lots 7 and 8.  WRNJ Radio
  • A Rutgers Health expert reminded parents to include sunscreen in their children’s backpacks as schools prepare for the new term since New Jersey law now lets districts allow its use without a doctor’s note—experts warn that even one severe sunburn in childhood can boost the risk of skin cancer later.  WRNJ Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Morris County voters will decide in the Nov. 4 General Election if funds from the Preservation Trust Fund may be used for stewardship of permanently preserved properties—supporting a program for habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and green infrastructure upgrades. If approved, the county will set up matching grants for municipal projects—without raising taxes.  WRNJ Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • Gov. Murphy announced Tuesday that over $10 million will come from the state's Opioid Recovery and Remediation Fund to help people affected by opioid addiction. The money will pay for community treatment, recovery checkups, peer support, and a program to help mothers in need.  News 12 New Jersey
  • At Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Aja Kennon gave birth to quadruplets at 34 weeks—initial ultrasounds showed triplets before the fourth baby was discovered later. The natural birth, which is a 1-in-700,000 chance, turned her family from three to seven on July 1.  News 12 New Jersey
