GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • An investigation by Kane In Your Corner shows that one in four deadly force incidents are not in New Jersey's public database — which makes it hard to check police actions — and experts say missing records from high-profile cases could affect police training and oversight.  News 12 New Jersey
  • Beginning this month, a Morris County Veterans Services Office opened at County College of Morris Veterans Resource Center to help student veterans access county and federal benefits — a veterans officer is available on the first and third Thursday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the semesters.  WRNJ Radio
  • Governor Phil Murphy signed a law that gives towns meeting affordable housing requirements priority for state grants and financial programs—state agencies will review prior settlements, lawsuits and occupancy data to measure compliance. The law does not apply to grants that help towns meet initial affordable housing needs.  WRNJ Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross is urging Morristown residents to donate blood during National Preparedness Month—helping hospitals secure lifesaving supplies for emergencies. Donors who give by Sept. 21 will receive a Red Cross x PEANUTS mystery bag, and those donating from Sept. 22 to Oct. 19 will get a $10 gift card—while urgent need remains for type O positive and B negative donations.  WRNJ Radio
  • Zufall Health will launch its new mobile medical unit this fall to provide primary care to underserved residents in Morris, Sussex, Somerset, Hunterdon, Union, Essex and Warren counties. The 40-foot Freightliner Odyssey XL — equipped with two exam rooms and a full care team — will bring services to people at workplaces, schools and community gathering spots.  Daily Record
