- ➤ The Seeing Eye held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday to open its new Chester Campus Outdoor Enrichment Project that features astroturf, play equipment, sun shades and a mini water park for its breeding dogs. Officials praised the improvements—funded by the Margaret A. Darrin Charitable Trust and the Sol and Margaret Berger Foundation—for adding fetch yards, expanded walking paths and an accessible visitor route. WRNJ Radio
- ➤ The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office CAREs team educated residents at Mine Hill Day on Sept. 20 at Firemen’s Field about scams targeting seniors—sharing tips to detect fraud and advising caution when responding to unsolicited messages. Future presentations will be held at Oak Ridge on Sept. 28 and at Morris Plains on Oct. 20 and Nov. 10 to further spread scam awareness. WRNJ Radio

- ➤ The New Jersey Commission on the Effects of Social Media Usage on Adolescents recommended that all school districts ban cellphones from the start to the end of the school day and Jersey City schools already enforce a ban—this move may prompt more districts to limit distractions during lessons. - ➤ Princeton University was ranked as the best national university by U.S. News and World Report on Sept. 23 and finished ahead of MIT and Harvard. Five New Jersey schools ranked in the top 100—Rutgers-New Brunswick, Rutgers-Newark, NJIT, Stevens, and Rutgers-Camden—showing the state's strong academic presence. Daily Record

- ➤ The redbay ambrosia beetle was found for the first time on Long Island, and experts fear it may soon spread to New Jersey and threaten local trees—surveys by the NJ Department of Agriculture as of Sept. 17 show no cases yet but warn of potential spread through natural reproduction or infested wood. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday evening marked the second night of Rosh Hashana, and Attorney General Matthew Platkin said law enforcement increased security at Jewish houses of worship, schools and cultural centers — even though there was no known threat.
