- ➤ Affinity Federal Credit Union members donated 2,000 pounds of food to local food banks as part of the 2nd annual NJ Food Cooperative drive—donations were collected at branches in Flemington, Hillsborough, and Basking Ridge to help fight food insecurity. WRNJ Radio
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A World War II artifact called the Merci Train is traveling to NJ; it was given by France in 1949 for help in the war and was later found in disrepair in Kansas City. It will be unveiled at the United Railroad Historical Society in Boonton on Sunday and will be rededicated and rebuilt. News 12 New Jersey
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ County College of Morris is hosting a retrospective exhibition honoring longtime professor Keith Smith’s work as artist, author and poet at the CCM Gallery in the Sherman H. Masten Learning Resource Center through Nov. 4—an opening reception took place on Sept. 25 with wine and light refreshments. WRNJ Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Congress is racing until midnight Sept. 30 to avoid a shutdown that will close non-essential federal services in NJ starting Oct. 1. If no funding agreement is reached, many New Jersey federal workers will be furloughed—putting local services and transportation at risk. Daily Record

- ➤ On Sept. 18, more than 100 supporters joined Zufall Health for its annual Be Well Benefit—a dinner cruise around lower Manhattan—to celebrate its 35th anniversary and highlight ongoing challenges in health care access. WRNJ Radio
