BUSINESS NEWS

  • A busy Morristown Starbucks is closing today after decades of service—its closure notice was posted on Thursday—and local residents worry that the loss of this safe space will force homeless individuals to find a new refuge.  News 12 New Jersey

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Morris County Board of County Commissioners approved a Local Safety Action Plan—known as LSAP—to improve road safety and open billions of dollars in federal grants for all 39 municipalities. Officials began planning in September 2024 and will work with local towns to use community feedback for reducing dangerous crashes.  WRNJ Radio
  • Morris County Assistant Prosecutor Julian Lockett Hill Jr. was named the Recovery Court Hero on Sept. 24 in Newark for his dedication to the program—he has helped non-violent drug defendants access treatment instead of incarceration.  WRNJ Radio
  • On Sept. 24, Morris County police chiefs accused Dover Mayor Dodd and Business Administrator Ramirez of weaponizing internal affairs to target Police Chief Delaney. Mayor Dodd fired back on Sept. 26 by defending a town report that flagged unsustainable officer salaries — saying Dover needs fiscal accountability.  WRNJ Radio
  • Gov. Murphy joined with 12 other governors to form the PJM Governors’ Collaborative aimed at increasing state input in grid decisions so that families pay lower bills & keep the lights on. The group will press for reforms like better load forecasting and updated market rules to support a more reliable electricity system.  WRNJ Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • New Jerseyans should immediately stop using recalled products including zebra blinds, bamboo shades, numbing cream, cooling gel pads, and countertop ovens—each item poses risks of strangulation, poisoning, or burns and requires consumers to contact the manufacturers for repair kits, refunds, or proper disposal.  WRNJ Radio

SPORTS NEWS

  • Younghoe Koo—a North Jersey native released by the Falcons—joined the Giants practice squad and will compete with Jude McAtamney for the game day kicker spot against the Chargers. He remains focused on his NFL career and confident in his ability to deliver key kicks.  Daily Record
