CULTURE NEWS

  • The Morris County Tourism Bureau will host the Made in Morris: Arts in Action Breakfast on Oct. 30 at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park—bringing together local artists, educators, and business leaders. The event will feature a keynote address by Justin Kiczek and award presentations recognizing standout contributions in the arts community.  WRNJ Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The American Chestnut Foundation (a volunteer group) is asking local residents to help restore chestnut trees in NJ by planting seeds and using the TreeSnap app to report on tree health. The group aims to develop a blight-resistant hybrid that can eventually repopulate forests (a process that may take years).  Daily Record

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Morris County, partnering with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, is hosting a virtual public meeting on Oct. 14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to discuss plans for improving rail clearance on East Hanover Avenue Bridge—an effort aimed at allowing standard freight railcars to move more freely on the NJ Transit Morristown Line.  WRNJ Radio
  • NJDOT begins a $11.8 million resurfacing project along Route 46 today with daytime shoulder closures from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday between Denville and Fairfield. Overnight lane closures on the westbound side in Fairfield will start Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Oct. 17—work that will continue nightly and is expected to finish in spring 2026.  WRNJ Radio
  • New Jersey law permits recording a conversation if you participate—filming in public spaces is generally allowed unless a location expects privacy. The law prohibits placing recording devices in areas like locker rooms and restrooms and makes it a crime to record conversations you are not part of.  Daily Record

  • Atlantic Health and Saint Peter’s Healthcare System ended their member substitution transaction plans on Monday due to a rapidly changing healthcare landscape. Both leaders said they will continue to work on partnerships that improve patient care.  WRNJ Radio

  • The New Jersey Devils announced their All-Quarter Century Team—honoring the top players from 2000 to 2025 including legends such as Elias, Gomez and Brodeur and marking four Stanley Cup Final trips with five retired numbers.
