  • Provident Bank awarded $63,000 in grants to eight nonprofit groups last Thursday as part of its Community Partnership Program, funding economic empowerment, housing, education and financial literacy in low- and moderate-income communities in New Jersey. The bank said the support will help strengthen local communities — building lasting opportunities for families.  WRNJ Radio

  • The Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere spent $41.8 million over 31 days filming in 16 New Jersey towns using the state’s tax credit program—opening in theaters today with Jeremy Allen White starring. EDUCATION NEWS

  • County College of Morris is launching a new Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Services to prepare students for jobs in emergency response, disaster management, and community protection. Enrollment for the Spring 2026 semester opens on Nov. 3 (details are available through the Criminal Justice Department).  WRNJ Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At an Oct 21 public work session, the Morris County Board presented more than $1.2 million in grants for new trail design and construction projects in towns including Jefferson, Long Hill, Dover, Florham Park, Hanover, Madison, Netcong and Rockaway Township—officials will vote on the recommendations at the Nov 5 meeting. If approved, the county’s total investment in trails will reach nearly $7.8 million since the program began in 2016.  WRNJ Radio
  • Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced a $1 million settlement with TFG Holding that gives New Jersey $187K and will refund 76 consumers an average of $2,463 for deceptive VIP membership practices—TFG must now provide clear membership terms and easy online cancellations. The agreement resolves claims that the retailer charged recurring fees without proper consent.  WRNJ Radio
  • Almost 1,000 rabbis, including nearly 100 from New Jersey, signed a letter warning that state assemblyman Zohran Mamdani's remarks on Israel and Zionism may endanger Jewish safety. The letter urges voters to support candidates who fight antisemitism and affirm Israel’s right to live in peace—adding pressure on his efforts to reassure local Jewish communities.  Daily Record
