🏘️ Community
Voting opens today for Pizza Bowl VI, where New Jersey residents cast ballots for the best pizza pie as part of the annual Jersey Pizza Joints contest — a contest that has crowned new winners every year.
Voting will run for 25 days and proceeds will support the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
🏛️ Government
Earlier this year, Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law that created a Target Zero panel to cut traffic deaths by 2040—this group from state agencies will work on rules that help drivers stop for pedestrians and pass safely.
The law also strengthens past rules that require drivers to yield at crosswalks and sets fines and points for violations.
🏈 Sports
New Jersey is preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be much more expensive and crowded than the 1994 tournament, with group tickets expected to average around $305 and final game seats costing over $2,000—state officials are upgrading transit with a $35 million bus corridor and boosting security and ticketing systems to handle the larger crowd.
