GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Board of Public Utilities approved a plan on June 18 to lower steep summer electricity bills by deferring $30 from each July and August bill and spreading that cost over six months from September to February—this effort also adds $48.7 million in assistance for low-income customers to prevent winter shutoffs. The measure was developed in coordination with New Jersey’s four electric distribution companies to ease the high usage costs during the summer months. Daily Record
